There is no end in sight to drivers scamming the system. In previous articles, we talked about how drivers were using Fake GPS, cell phone jammers, and airport mafias hiring people to hold cell phones for airport trips.
In this article, we move onto......Fake Claims by drivers.
#1 My Passenger Made a Mess in My Vehicle
#2 Cancellation Fees
Now that Uber has put in the 2 minute cancellation policy in the Houston area, passengers are loathe to cancel their driver after a few minutes. However, there have been complaints of drivers purposely driving in a different direction, or not driving at all waiting on the passenger to cancel. Sometimes they will just chill right around the corner or behind your building, ignoring your texts and phone calls. Then right at 5 minutes......"Cancelled!"
#3 There Were More than 4 Riders
A very popular scam among XL Uber drivers.... Have you ever been surprised that you were charged twice the price you were quoted? Well maybe your driver switched you from an Uber X fee to an Uber XL fee by writing into Uber for a fare adjustment claiming there were 5 or 6 passengers in the car. Why are they doing this? Did you maybe promise a tip and didn't deliver? Did you maybe have alot of luggage and they decided to count your luggage as people too? Did you piss off your driver? Did you have on the wrong color shoes today? It varies. So take note of what you're riding in. You may want to take pictures proving that that were four or less passengers at the time of your ride.
These are just a few of the on-going scams in existence. If you been the victim of scamming, by all means write back requesting a fare adjustment. Show pictures, if any. And if all else fails...DISPUTE DISPUTE DISPUTE the charges.
